Creation Credit Card

Options
Hi All,
A regular follower but first time poster on this thread and the customer service of Creation recently has lead me to want to share my experience with them.

I got a credit card through them because IHG moved from Barclaycard to Creation. I was perfectly happy with Barclaycard...they had a good app, Apple Pay, ability to download your transactions in CSV format, secure messaging if you had a query. Overall no complaints.

Creation however, it's like having s credit card in the 90's. They have basic online banking and that's about it. You can't save debit card details for quick payment and have to re-enter card details, address etc in full every time to make a payment. No app, a website that persistently fails via mobile browsing. I don't usually use telephone customer service but the one time I did I was on hold 25 minutes to get through. No secure messaging and no mention of when they will support Apple Pay. Lastly, the only way you can download transactions is in PDF format...what use is that for managing your finances?

I recently lost my wallet (my fault), within a week all of my other cards from other financial providers were replaced. Still waiting for my Creation card which I pay £100 a year for (IHG Premium) compared to the others which are free. The alarm bells did ring when all other lost card lines quoted 3-5 working days and Creation quoted 7-10 (seriously...in this day and age).

I will continue using the card because we utilise IHG hotels which is the reason we have it (we use the pay for everything on the card and pay it off strategy to maximise benefits without interest). However, it's such a shame IHG switched from Barclaycard to this comparatively unknown company as the former provide a far better service and to say Creation are miles behind would be an understatement, they're not even in the same county.

As they have little reviews online I just wanted to share my experience. Just as a disclaimer this isn't vented out of a financial issue, I haven't been hit with any charges, denied a credit limit increase or anything like that...it is purely customer service, lack of Apple Pay and the archaic online management tools they have that have driven this moan.

Regards.

I like this sort of thing. I've considered a creation card, but options such as easy of extra payments and decent apps are now something that are important.

MBNA is great for me, saves my card details, just need to enter the 3 digit code on back of card, which is easy to remember. App is now very good as well, since last year, able to do all the important stuff through it, including balance and money transfers and view current rates on individual balances.

Compared to M&S, I dont' believe there is an APP for just card holders and can't save card details on website, so have to enter it all again to make a quick payment.
  • I agree having got an MBNA card as-well (although don't really use it that much anymore) their app is also really good and makes payments easy. No need to fill out a 7-10 field form everytime you want to make a payment.
  • I have a Creation CC and I must admit I've had no problem with them at all.

I've rung the customer services, got through fairly quickly (no longer than any other bank) and found them very helpful and efficient. I've used the card abroad without any problems as well. I don't make payments via a debit card, (set up a DD) so haven't come across the problem described by OP.

They don't support Apple Pay admittedly, but I have other cards I can use for that and as I got the card primarily to use abroad as a back up for the Clarity, I've been perfectly satisfied with it.

I'm not a huge fan of Barclaycard, as it happens, but that has nothing to do with it, really.

I've got a few Creation cards, their payment by card form is annoying as you do have to enter your full details every time. Cards do take longer to arrive. I'm not much bothered about Apple Pay I don't use it very much. Customer service has been fine when I called them. I've got no complaints really!
