Adding my wife as additional driver

My son has recently passed his driving test, just turned 18. He is looking for insurance for a low insurance group car but insurance still pricey. He has asked his friends how much they are paying and a lot of them have a parent as a named driver to bring cost down. How would this affect our future insurance premiums as we have a multi car policy with Admiral. Also as he is the last in the family to get a car and we will have 4 cars is this likely to affect future costs. Thanks.

Yes and No and ask your insurer.

Adding myself and any male in the family increased my little ones insurance by various amounts.

Adding a female family member dropped it slightly, adding their nan dropped it by £300.

But adding the name to my nephew increased the quotes.
