Things to do in Bournemouth area we have a car

We are spending a week in Bournemouth, we will have a car with us and are willing to travel. As niether of us have been to the area before we are looking for ideas recommendations for things to do in the area and a bit beyond.

I hope some of you lovely people have more experience of the area than hubby and myself.

Sandbanks ferry to Purbeck and Swanage. It can be nicer to do this by bus - open top during the season with the advantage that it overtakes the lines of cars waiting for the ferry.

The New Forest is next door - drive to Milford and get the Ferry to Hurst Castle. Also Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door.

Fab fish and chips in swanage and I love milford (actually you go to Keyhaven for the Hurst Castle ferry), so a big thumbs up for both posts.

Corfe Castle (the village and the castle), Bovington Tank Museum and Monkey World near Wool (separate attractions!), the Jurassic Coast particularly Lulworth Cove, Kimmeridge Bay and Tyneham village, the New Forest, Hengitsbury Head, RSPB Arne for great view of Poole harbour, ferry from Poole Quay to Brownsea Island or cruise up the river to Wareham...

Drive to Portsmouth docks to look around the historic ships, submarine, etc.
