Help needed if possible.

Hi, please excuse me if i'm posting the wrong thing here but im new and in need of help, any advice is much appreciated.
3 months ago i bought a car on my credit card to the value of £3000. We have had nothing but problems with the car since we bought it and now it is back at the dealer we bought it from who is refusing to refund or exchange with us so now we have taken steps with trading standards etc, but my question is because i bought the car on my credit card do i have any protection in way of getting my money back? I just tried to phone my credit card company but they're call centre is in pakistan or somewhere like that and the bloke didnt have a clue what i was trying to say. I was just wondering if anyone knows if i'm covered with my card as now the dealer has my car and my money and i have nothing. I cant even take the car back cos it is not road worthy for my worst enemy let alone me and my kids.
Once again apologies in i'm in the wrong here.

Yes, -as the car cost more than £100 and less than £30,000 and you paid by credit card, you should have protection under Section 75 of the [SIZE=-1]Consumer Credit Act 1974 which means the credit card company, as well as the dealer is responsible for fixing the car or refunding your money (as appropriate)

I would imagine your local Trading Standards/council website may have some information on it as well or the local citizens advice.

You can also try the Consumer Direct helpline

  • Thank you very much. As i said we have already contacted trading standards and they dictated a letter to me for me to send to the dealer to which i did this afternoon as they are in breach of the sale of goods act 1979. Citizens advice is where i will be first thing in the morning. Thank you once again
