life insurance claim - where to look?

great forum. first post.

now, my partners father passed away about 8-9 years ago from cancer. he had life insurance. after his death my partners mother did not claim the life insurance and still hasn't to this day. she cant find any papers or has any idea who the policy was with. my partner seems to think it was a company with "ireland" or "irish" in the name! i know, either of them dont seem to have much clue!

well, upon hearing this i asked why my partners mother never claimed. for understsandable resons she was distraught, and started thinking that it would bevwrong to make the claim!

i was wondering if there was any way you could find out about policys which have been unclaimed so me and my partner could track down who her fathers policy was with? we both feel as though she should have made the claim but i think if we find out where it was from, how much etc then she might make the claim! not only does it annoy me but it upsets me whe i see her struggling to work on her own and the financial state she is in. after his death funeral costs and other costs were paid with with all her last savings and since then she hasnt got back on track. it also annoys me that there is a company out there that keeps the money if she doesnt claim what is rightfully hers.

so if anyone has any idea what i can do please, please help me but mostly her. thank you.

Try Unclaimed Assets Register https://www.uar.co.uk.

Believe they can help if the policy had a savings or investment value eg endowment but not certain if they trace policies that just paid out a fixed amount on death (term assurance).They charge a fee but against what you might get back it's well worth it.

Suggest you ring them to explore the position first.
