Does anyone have a recipe for an easy chutney with no dried fruit in it. All the ones I have found seen to have sultanas or the like in it.Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0

I am going to make hampers too and I thought some different types of almonds or nuts would look good in pretty jars. I think they would go well with a drinks theme or something like that. Anyway just made some
Spicy Almonds
Ingredients:- 100 gram almonds
- 1 1/2 teaspoons oil
- 1/2 tablespoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- dash fresh ground pepper
2. Toss nuts with spices until evenly covered. Spread out on aluminum foil to cool completely and then store in an airtight container.
Toffee Almonds
I did not have a receipe for these but took some sugar (about 1 cup) onto a warm pan. Wait until it starts to melt then stir in 1 knob of butter when it is just about disolved. I then added the almonds and let it toast a bit in the sugar.
If it is sticking together too much just add more butter.
Spread out on some bakingpaper or something non stick. Once cool carefully break up. Taste like Werthers Originals.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Did anyone see This morning earlier, their chef was showing you how to make homemade hampers at the fraction of storebought ones and i though this would be right up some MSCers street so thought i would post the link. I might even try and make a mini one myself

your italian hamper sounds lovely.. maybe you could add some flavoured oils/vinegars as well?
re: labels, you could do what i've done and that's to paint blackboard paint onto the jars, then write the label on with chalk. it works well, and looks wonderfully homemade and rustic, somehow. you can see some examples here, but i would leave doing labels till *after* the jars are all sealed and bottled up. Also not good if you're giving the jars to someone with children, as someone told me they did this with their jars but the kids like to handle them and the chalk gets rubbed off.. LOL.

I'm giving some home made chutney and have been searching around for ideas on how to label it. I want to use or reuse something I already have and this idea is perfect. We already have a tin of chalk board paint, and found a tailors chalk pencil on Ebay. Think I will tie some ribbon around the jar and attach a gift tag.
Does anyone have any pics of wrapped food gifts they have done? I've already made red onion chutney (used red onions on offer in Lidl) and plan to do sweet chilli jam too.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
