Alternative Accommodation, what can i claim

We had to move out of our house due to a major water leak in Dec 17 and the only suitable accommodation that could be found was over ten miles away from home, we have a disabled child. This meant that we had increased costs for the kids to getting to school and myself and my wife getting to work. Now the insurance company concerned have been a nightmare and have been less than supportive. We have yet to be paid any expenses, we're covering the council tax for both our house and the rental and they are now pushing back on paying any additional travel costs. Overall they have been a nightmare ! Does anybody have any experience of such a situation, or what i can claim in terms of additional travel expenses ? Thanks

Alternative accommodation usually pays what it says. It not intended to pay you compo for all costs incurred. I would expect them to push back on paying additional travel costs.0
