Hi, sorry not sure if right forum or not, please move if not. :)

I recently had to contact the post office CS, last weekend actually, as I were over charged at a local post office. Now I have not needed to call the post office for about a year and know this were not the case before.

Anyway tried to call post office UK customer services last Saturday. Now you need to press option 6 for complaints or for anything else. After hearing an automated voice going on about going on line, it rings a few times and then cuts you off. You can not get connected to post office customer services at all on the phone.

I though it were a technical issue with their phones. I tried to call from a mobile and landline phone but had the same issue. So trying to find a number to contact head office. The post office have made that almost impossible, as the number you find on google, just puts you back in that same system and no change.

I tried many numbers and all the same problem, all this week, until I got to the bottom of it today.

I found another number for post office UK in London but it isn’t really the right one. I called them gave them my details, complaint and were told I would get a call back.

Today so called post office customers services, called me back .

On asking why the option 6 for post office customer services were not working, I were told that you can no longer contact PO customer services on the phone and that you must now do it all online only but you can request or something, a call back.

I said this is not acceptable and a disgrace, poor service. I then said, that not everybody wants to go online and do this, some can’t and other don’t know how to.

PO should cater for all customers.

So even if you have simple query or quick question can you not call? No you have to do it on online like any other issue complaint. Utterly ridicules and utterly unacceptable!

The post office is a public service we all use yet they think they have some right to remove the option of customer services phone number. Even royal mail still have a customer services number and they are now a private company.

This is all wrong and the director of Post office UK, needs to be sacked! This is unacceptable and not the sort of poor service we should suffer with. Post office UK are a national disgrace! Please go to PO Facebook page and twitter and complain, have a go at them, saying to bring back the post office customer services number.

Here are the number you can try and select option 6, you will see what I talking about

A national disgrace? Hardly, they are world class and I like most are immensely proud of them. Love to see the local post woman in her shorts in February!

Yes they should have a customer phone number but its not a "National Disgrace"

If they had I would only have expected a ring back Monday - Friday message 9-5

Just what was so desperate ?

I took his post to mean you can only request a call back online.

Is that the case or can you request a call back from the automated service?

In my opinion there should be someone to answer the phones but the call back route is being used by many companies these days

No you dont. You have to go online and request it, as part of your email, which is pointless when they should just have a phone number, like before

That is something else they don't do. Give you an option on the automated services to do that.

This is why no phone number it's a unacceptable on the PO part.

No you cant request a call back from the automated service ,as in my other post.

It's not the point though really and should not be used as some excuse, for the PO to stop the CS phone number.

Another way is. If someone lives somewhere with no internet but has a land line phone, they can't contact post office CS. Otherwise it would not of been an issue, as they could just call the post office.

Well it is a National Disgrace as the post office is a National service.

It's just not acceptable for the post office, not to have a customer services phone number, for the kind of services they offer to the public.

This is why I posted here to raise awareness of this issue, and hopefully get people to complain, make the PO change this bad decision. :)

I never use a post office and don't see any reason I would. They mainly offer overpriced parcel services, poor value currency exchange and outraged methods to pay bills and receive benefits.
Which makes it slightly ironic that they apparently only deal with complaints online!.
