joint savings account

Me and my lovely other half want to open a joint savings account, we both have ISA's that we pay into and we live at different addresses. What would be our best option?

Thanks

sunshine_shell, I have found it easiest to open a joint account with an institution where we both already had ( separate ) accounts.
  • we don't i'm with the A&L and he is with NatWest :(

Well, the second easiest way would be to open the joint account with the A&L or NatWest, then, as you should only have to provide ID for one person. Apart from the ID issue it's more or less the same as opening an individual account. Have you been having problems with getting a joint account?
  • No problems just don't want a joint current account we just wanted an account that we could save into for holidays maybe a house. We'll have to go try... thanks

I can't see what there is to gain by having a joint account except if you have a high interest on line one. Don't believe Nat West have high interest from what I remember. You can both save at your own pace into the accounts you have now and pool the money when it comes time to book the holiday or put the deposit on a house. convenience is the main thing. Will it be more convenient to have all the money in one place?

hi shell, myself an othert half where in same situation, wanting a joint savings account for holidays, but living in different towns.
we opened one with the yorkshire bank, conveniently there a branch in both towns. neither of us already had an account with them, but there were no problems, just needed proof of our id's, driving licence/passport, and a utility bill
enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)
