The NHS is also free. That does not mean we have to put up with inferior health care.
Actually it does.
Whilst we're very lucky here in the UK, our healthcare system is over stretched and has not been world leading for some time.
In terms of "bang for buck" it is good - private health can offer better, but rarely more affordably.
I'm sure there's an MSE analogy here, I just can't think what it is0 -
I'll tell you what is wrong with Mr Deep ....

I frequently had this problem as a new user, I got blocked every day for ages but don't any more - my bigger issue that copying and pasting from Word unformats the text (eg removes para numbering and strikeout/underling etc). How do I do it via Notebook??????Although a practising Solicitor, my posts here are NOT legal advice, but are personal opinion based on limited facts provided anonymously by forum users. I accept no liability for the accuracy of any such posts and users are advised that, if they wish to obtain formal legal advice specific to their case, they must seek instruct and pay a solicitor.0

The Bulletin Board software has its own codes for various formatting:
for a numbered list: [noparse]-

for strikeout: [noparse][STRIKE] ... [/STRIKE][/noparse]
for underline: [noparse] ... [/noparse]0 -

Yes, but my problem is if I edit someone's defence/WS or whatever, I prefer to do it in Word (have done it before in a post and then pressed the wrong button and 2 hours of work disappears before my eyes) - so I copy and paste over to word, and show deletions/additions in my amending so the OP can see what I've done. When I then re-copy and paste it back into a post, the strikeout/bold I've put in and the para numbering usually disappears. Plus, as someone else has said, loads of new codes have been added in (eg different fonts). Again I then have to spend ages re-highlighting my changes and renumbering/reformatting and deleting all the extra codes.
Someone says the answer to this is to use Notebook.....or was it Notepad..... anyway, my question is what is that and how do I use it?
I'm not that old or decrepit and am great at typing and laying out my own stuff, but I'm not great with IT and jargon!!!Although a practising Solicitor, my posts here are NOT legal advice, but are personal opinion based on limited facts provided anonymously by forum users. Notepad is on every Windows PC. Has been since Windows 95, if not before. (Click the Windows logo at the bottom-left and start typing notepad ... a link to start running it will appear).
It's a very basic text editor ... if you want to include formatting then you'll need to use the BB code in the text you're editing in Notepad. Example:[ s]This text is deleted[ /s]. This [ b]text is changed[ /b], and [ u]this text is added[ /u]
The above shows as below in a forum reply (if you remove the space after each [ character):[s]This text is deleted[/s]. This [b]text is changed[/b], and [u]this text is added[/u]

The other alternative is to retain the Word document in its original format, or as a PDF, and link it to your MSE post.
This means that someone will have to click on it to access it, but it will require no effort to reformat it, if you use this approach. Since MSE does not permit attached documents, you'd need to host it somewhere else, and post the link. You could use Google Docs, for example, although various free hosting sites exist.
I used the PDF Archive to host a PDF document the other day, and that seems to work quite well, with a minimum of setup. https://www.pdf-archive.com/0 -

Define "Free"?
Although the site claims to be free from adverts, the reality is that it is one huge advert that generates a LOT of revenue for various people.
