Buying direct from vendor

We've bought direct without an agent. Was all done very simply. We just had to swap solicitor details and there was the occasional email regarding timelines etc.. I'd definitely seek to deal privately again if the opportunity came up.0

Re: your question about the pros and cons of buying direct, our vendors are using Purplebricks as their EA which, we've found, has effectively meant they might as well be selling direct to us. PB have their money upfront and get it regardless of whether a sale goes through meaning they don't especially give a toss how the sale is progressing.
We also negotiated price directly with the vendor. In our case it was refreshingly straightforward but that was largely down to fact that both sides were very open and upfront. It was nice not to have that part of the process muddied by an EA as the middleman.
The big drawback is that now we're at the conveyancing stage, it's looking like things are moving slowly and there's not a huge amount we can do about it without contacting the vendor directly to push things along. Which creates a little bit of anxiety as we don't want to annoy them.0
