My Husband just bought me a Thomas Sabo necklace for an anniversary present gift. It was marked up at £14 cheaper than he was charged. the sales assistant turned over the price to hide it, but he caught a glimpse of it. He questioned the price and the assistant said it was old stock and it had now gone up. she quickly cut the price tag off and charged him the new inflated price higher than the ticket. Can retailers charger a higher price for old stock that's marked at old price ? Is this legal ????

Yes, look at invitation to treat
There's specific rules around sales and discounting but I don't think that's the case here,
Legal but I would have just walked away from the saleYes Your Dukeiness0 -
If he had been charged £14 cheaper than was on the 'shelf price' would he have said 'oh hang on, you've undercharged me'?
It is (as said above) invitation to treat, you (or your husband in this case) had the choice to accept or decline. He accepted the offer, job done.Dwy galon, un dyhead,
