Please don't judge me.
We took our cat to the cattery for the first time for her (she is 16 months) and third time for us (we had took our late cat there). She arrived on the 22nd.
We collected her yesterday and was presented with a vets bill for fleas. She got taken to the vet on the 29th.
Our cat is an indoor only cat, we can't understand why she got them and for them to say she had was a shock. They had thrown out her bedding, so have got her new.
We are concerned - we keep the area she sleeps in clean and she is always getting petted, so we would notice, also, why would the cattery wait a week before taking her to vet.
We have had a dog move in upstairs and it likes leaving gifts in the back yard, which I clean up but I use gloves and make sure my shoes are clean before coming into house. It leaves its gifts by our washing line.
Maybe I am grapsping - maybe we done something wrong but can't think what.
Any advice, sorry if I am awful.

A flea could have hopped onto the clothes/bag of anyone walking into or past your home (also beware of second hand soft furnishings) it happens and there's nothing you can do about it so try not to think about it too much.
If the treatment your cat received did not include worming, you should make sure you get that up to date as well since fleas can carry worms.A witty saying proves nothing0
