Hi,
I,ve been using my ipad for 3 years, must admit i would be lost without it.
It runs slow, and is full, with useful apps, which I do try to keep down.
So i think its time for a new one, btw have dropped it, and smashed corner of screen, which i have repaired with a bit of gaffa tape. Its been like that for 2 years.
Do i trade it in with apple, or should i just buy a tablet.
Will a tablet do the same as an ipad.
Dont want to go into a currys, as i find then a bit over whelming.
I have noticed people buying amazon, tesco etc tablets, will i still be able to download apps.
Thank you

You'll find cheap Android tablets a very poor experience compared to an iPad, plus you won't be able to use any apps you've bought from the Apple Store.
I'd suggest looking for a certified refurbished iPad Air II 32GB0 -
The Apple App Store (for Ipad / iPhones, etc) and the Google Play Store (for Android tablets / Andorid phones, etc) are two incompatible eco-systems. You will find that most of the popular 3rd party apps such as Skype, Snapchat, iPlayer, etc are available for both platforms - however if you change to Android you will need to start again in terms of searching for the apps you want and installing them (not a huge issue though). Your actual accounts for these 3rd party apps will work across both devices though. There is some limited crossover between the two eco-systems. For example, a number of Google apps such as Photos, Gmail, Maps, Drive, etc are available for Apple devices.
In terms of the actual hardware, you will find that the vast majority of Android based tablets are at the cheaper end of the market and simply feel a bit cheap to hold and use. The worst offenders are also slow in use and many still only offer 16GB of storage which for a lot of people isn't enough now a days. Samsung make some good Android tablets though - so that would be my recommendation.
If however you have the money to replace your iPad with a newer version then do so. You will end up with an even better version of something you are already happy and familiar with using, you will be able to install all your favourite apps and data with ease and you hopefully won't be left with any regrets. There is nothing wrong with Android (in fact it is now a very mature and smooth eco-system), but a lot of the hardware doesn't allow users to have the best experience unless you spend some decent money - and then you may as well pay a little bit more yet and go down the Apple route with which you are already familiar and happy with

If you are able to afford a new iPad , I would list the iPad you presently own and sell it on eBay . I would remove the tape though and give it a wipe and see how much you get . Then buy the latest one .
its annoying . So many updates make something needlessly slow.0 -
The biggest problem I find is that with Apple apps work across all devices except maybe some really old ios versions. A lot of Android apps can be pretty much hit and miss whether they work with your particular version and particular device even if the latest incarnation.0
