O/S Daily Tuesday 5 September 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but dull and dreich, and forecast is for it to be like this all day. Yesterday it went really humid, still quite warm this morning.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, I'll be waking him soon to get ready for college, he was there all day yesterday and think it will be the same today.
Dinner last night was chinese flavoured pork steaks, sausages, breaded chicken portions, jacket potato, cheese, beans, side salad and HM coleslaw, ice cream/fruit/choc cake for desserts. Tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg as hairdresser is coming to hi-light me and cut the menfolk's hair, so I need something I can just shove on a tray and cook in the oven.
Yesterday work was busier than it has been, but it was all or nothing, I felt like I spent the entire morning running round - but the day did go quickly, hopefully today will be similar - some of our schools go back today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks nmlc, you always seem to do so much cooking!
Wet and windy this morning, another day when the children will probably have to stay inside during breaks, makes them very noisy!
Got lots done at work yesterday but not much done at home, I had a book I wanted to finish so did that, will try harder this evening.
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
A dull morning here, with rain threatening at intervals through the day, and I have to be out and about for work. Not entirely looking forward to this.
Yesterday was a bit tense at work, when I found that a manager who has just left had failed to act on something (I can't go into this) so have had to deal with the fallout. If the requirement had simply been passed to me at the proper time, it woukd not have been an issue. Arghhhhhh.
I worked late and will need to do so today and Thursday But will soon reduce my hours a little.
Tomorrow is the funeral so I probably won't have time to check in as we will leave at the crack of dawn.
Hope everyone has a good few days.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Gosh it's dark this morning, plus wet, and rain forecast most of the day.
We have the treck to Leeds this morning for Mr TA's follow up appointment after the ureteric stent change and cystoscopy. We need to be on the first off-peak train at 9.30 to get there in time for the 11.00 appointment. We'll probably treat ourselves to a spot of lunch in Leeds afterwards, before catching the train back home. (We have a re-run of the trip on Thursday when we are back again for his Oncology appt!)
It still feels very muggy this morning and I had a restless night tossing and turning. Consequently I feel like a wet rag this morning.
I had a sudden burst of energy yesterday afternoon and went out to tackle the rampant ivy at the back. The garden bin is now packed full with the hedge clippings from the front and the ivy from the back and they are not due to empty them for 2 weeks.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want them. I hope all goes as well as it can do tomorrow AOD. Be thinking of you and your DM. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone. Not as dark and dingy as yesterday though still not light and bright.
Yesterday was a one trick pony, a dismal drive down to Clydebank and a sodden drive back. My little old man was very chatty, fairly deaf and a mumbler. He was only in the radiology department 30 minutes, so five hours driving for half an hour there.
I was hardly home when a chirpy Openreach turned up to fix my phone line, third one in four weeks and only five days late. He did tests on my line and then announced that 'your line is noisy'...yes, that's what I reported. After an hour or so of climbing the pole and digging up a buried box he's coming back later today. However, the semi better news is that a green cabinet has been installed close enough to my place to allow a fibre connection in about six months. :j Mind you, the green cabinet hasn't been activated yet but it's a step closer to better broadband.
Today brings me to the first of three student inductions. They are going to be much longer than before as a whole load of new requirements have been brought in by the SQA, emphasis on student malpractice!
Happy Tuesday to everyone.0 -
Morning all
Kids back at school tomorrow and for a rare change we are actually all organised yay.
Got a busy day at sort play today to wear them out then tonight need to cut the top portion off Dd3 pinafore to turn it into a skirt so she has some spare uniform and save myself around £15.
Now to get back ontop of the laundry and start preparing for the colder months which feel like they've arrived already

No rain here atm lets hope it stays dry as the chuckle brothers did not come yesterday as it was raining all day ! hopefully they will come today.
DD is on her way to Croatia, she slept at her mates last night and they had to be up by three this morning to make the flight they will be tired later !
Not sure about dinner tonight will go and look in the freezer after this only OH and I to cook for this week so no veggi option to cook.
We were hoping to get someone in to decorate dd's bedroom while she was away but cannot get hold of anyone so it will have to wait.
AOD hope all goes well tomorrow.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone,
Thanks for starting us off nmlc
Congratulations on your wedding anniversary nmlc.
Dunpling Thank goodness your daughter is alright.
Specky it sounds like the afternoon tea was lovely, I’m glad it went well.
I managed to get a nice tin of shortbread as a present for my neighbour. I’m planning on making some for myself at the weekend. It’s something I really like but have never made even though I like baking.
Town was a lot quieter yesterday, although I think there must have been a fair number of schools who had a non-pupil day as it was busier than I expected.
Dinner yesterday was haddock, new potatoes and steamed veg with some parsley sauce that I had in the freezer. I’ll have a freezer rummage in a minute to find something for tonight. I’m feeling the cold at the moment so I think it will be something warming.
I don’t have any particular plans for today so will just see how the day unfolds.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all
Some straight talking was needed after the miserable weekend I had with Grump but was beneficial.
As usual, work has taken him over again. Driving 50 miles there and back again as well as doing a full manual shift is taking its toll on him and I'm getting the worst end of it. He's already cancelled his weeks break that was scheduled and needed 2 weeks ago because he was needed and sending me pictures of the gorgeous weather they seem to be having in Bude isn't helping. He was meant to have finished the job over a month ago but they keep hanging onto him to fix things.
Inspired by a conversation we had yesterday in his dinner break he has now told them he is finishing on the 22nd. They were supposedly finishing him on the 29th anyway but he's had so many finishing dates the 29th date means nothing. He will probably take a couple of weeks off to recharge and start looking for work again. He's usually not out of work for long.
With Youngest still at home I'm desperately in need of some space so him quitting just as Youngest is going back to work isn't doing me any favours but I can't live like I'm walking on eggshells much longer.
Hopefully, all will work out. On a positive note. It's usually at this point Grump changes his car but he can't this time as spent it on the house.
TA i hope all goes well at the hospital.
Onwards and forwards

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Frustrated, I sold my machine last week, still waiting to be paid and arrangements made to collect it........
It's a dull morning, very low light levels, not sure if it's raining.
DD1 is coming today to get the boxes for the machines down. I went to print the labels to send my sewing machine for a service, printer would not work....ggrrrrrr, messed about for ages with it, including deleting and reinstalling it, still would not work, so I have ordered a new one. Typical, I recently bought ink refills for it. £20+ down the pan.
No idea what's for supper tonight, I might just do stovies.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a bit rainy out but I hope it will brighten up later on. I have a very busy day planned and I would like to not get wet. The girls have all left for school/college and peace reigns temporarily at least.
I have an appointment with my psychiatrist this morning and I really hope it is going to be helpful. Becky has an appointment to see her orthodontist and I will be going with her for that then we get back for a quick bit of lunch before Becky goes to the gym with her mental health worker.
This afternoon I am determined to sit down and finish sewing up the pirate I have knitted. I took some chicken breasts out of the freezer last night so tea will be fairly easy as I will concoct some recipe using some of the many open jars in the fridge.
I am expecting a few deliveries this week and I hope they don't come while I am out. I've ordered an electric wax melt thingy in the shape of an owl, it's very cute and will go with all my other owly stuff in the living room.
Right, I'm off to make some breakfast quickly and then I can rush round and have a quick tidy before Jemima comes over after dropping the grandkids to school. It will be nice to sit down and have a cup of tea with her before I have to go out.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0
