Tablet, can't go any further

I have a Lenovo yoga tablet, it gave the option to update and my grandchild was using it at the time and they pressed yes. Now I am locked out.
When turning on I can get to the option to log in to a Google account which it says needs to be the one registered to this machine, when I then put in email account and password it says to come back in 24 hours have gone back and still no luck in signing in.
So now after trying for a week, I have tried to reset to factory settings, this still doesn't work.
HELP
Sorry this is long winded but my questions are
A. Do I get a new SIM card (me thinking all information is on it so start again)
B. Do I buy a new tablet.
C. Or spend money on having it fixed. (not keen as only cost £100 as in sale)

Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Is it still asking for your Google email and password? Was the factory reset successful and still not working?

I would search on Google and try all types of reset. Soft and hard before spending money on repair. Just found this link: http://www.hardreset.info/devices/lenovo/lenovo-yoga-10/

I am not an expert. Just what I would do normally.

  • No the factory reset didn't work. I will look on that site. And I agree I don't want to spend any money out.

  • A few thoughts...

    1) Password reset (assuming you have the right email address). When you set up a Google account, you are asked to provide a 'secret answer' to a question (such as Name of first pet?) to allow you to reset your password (in other words to resolve the exact issue you are experiencing). Have you tried this? Link: https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery

    2) Hard reset. If for any reason you can not reset your password, you can do a factory / hard reset. This will put your tablet back to day one ready for a new account. Just bear in mind that unless you had your tablet set up to automatically save / sync your data to the Google Drive (internet favourites, photos, documents, etc) then you will LOSE everything on your tablet.

PS. Short of a hardware issue, there is no reason why your tablet will not perform a hard reset. if you are stuck, Google the words " Lenova Yoga Hard Reset".

    3) I really would advise against paying someone to sort your issue -unless you really have no clue what to do. At the end of the day all they are going to be able to do is to perform a hard reset as if YOU don't know your password, then NO ONE else is going to know it!

Is there not an option to skip the "enter a gmail account" stage.

Not sure what stage your at to be honest.

Whenever ive had a new android device Im asked to enter a gmail account or skip that step.

FACTORY reset would do the above , a simple reboot would not , hw are you doing a reset?

  • Pressing volume up and power button together a menu comes down and one says factory reset I press yes and a screen comes up saying factory reset started, I then go back to this menu and press reboot. Nothing happens. When trying to log in it says come back in 24 hours. There isn't an option to skip this. So back to square one.
    Thanks for your help

When you press factory reset it should start the process by switching Off after about 5 minutes or less and not need a reboot?
