Parking eye fine

Recieved a fine from parking eye, telling me I hadn't paid . I had & kept my ticket, as when I was typing in registration it would only accept the first 2 letters of reg, I don't know why, perhaps I was too slow I don't know. I emailed them proof of ticket, they replied telling me as a goodwill gesture they will lower it from 60-20, as it states you have to have full reg. I didn't read parking rules so I have no idea what the rules are. I paid £3 parking

its an invoice , not a "fine" (PE cannot "fine" anyone)

I suggest you use their popla code if they issued one

I hope you didnt reveal who was driving ?

please read the NEWBIES sticky thread, it will help you with advice on dealing with these parking invoices

in your case, there was "frustration of contract" due to their useless payment machines , not your fault

as the money was paid to park, stand your ground !!

Also, their wanting £20 for something which they appear to admit is their fault, is unlikely to impress a judge and may be an unfair term in a consumer contract. Read this

How much would an LA wantr in similar circumstances I wonder?

On the other hand, this is PE and they sue people, and this OP has already given away who was driving and might not win at POPLA. We know POPLA will not uphold an appeal on this basis.

So £20 to make it go away is worth considering, then get your revenge by complaining to your MP about what happened here, which is clearly a complete rip-off caused by their machine.

Now is the time to support the Bill going through Parliament:

I agree with the pragmatic approach taken by c-m although it sticks in our collective throats.

If not, then you need to be prepared to go to court in the long run as there is every chance this PPC will do court.

Many regulars here would be prepared to go to court - I would - but you would need lots of previous parking charges experience that you don't yet seem to have.

I disagree with you both. It is hardly relevant who was driving CM, all she did was enter a wrong VRN, I do something similar hundreds of times a day on my keyboard.

It is a scam. You know it I know it, the judge knows it. The only way to bring this scum to their knees is to fight them tooth and nail, £20 is £20, it will buy me a half a case of acceptable Rioja.

First they came for the socialists ...

And how many cases of plonk would the amount OP stands to lose if the case goes against them?

I said that many regulars would fight this, but I made a judgement on the words in the opening post and that Emily probably didn't want to go to court.

If I am wrong, and she does relish the fight, then obviouslywe will all help.
  • Not sure £20 can buy half a case of acceptable rioja either...
