EON Rip Off

I moved into a newbuild home in May 2016 and applied to EON to transfer the account from the developer to myself only to be told that it would take several weeks for the developer to apss on the paperwork. I subsequently continued trying for 11 months to get EON to accept that my property was being supplied gas and electricity by them via their installed meters. The problem had been that EON hadn't registered the meters on the National Power Database and therefore, my meters didn't exist; although they were still demonstrating consumption. Upon EON;s acceptance that they were my provider they duly provided a bill at the highest standard tariff on the grounds that I didn't have a cheaper tariff registered with them.
I complained and via the Ombudsman they accepted that they were at fault, apologised, offered £36 in compensation and then charged me 30% more for the privileged based upon the fact that the best tariff available at the time was basically the standard tariff from 12 months later (even though the price of gas and electricity had been increased by 225 over that period). the basis for this was that the benefits of the cheapest tariff were only available to those paying by direct debit and as i hadn't then I couldn't benefit from the deduction.
This is a RIP OFF as during the 12 months they never read the meters, never informed me of any lower tariffs, didn't commission the meters and certainly never gave me the opportunity to pay less via DD. Additionally, they sent me a bill with the new "lower tariff" showing my TCR value at nearly 30% greater than my next door neighbours TCR on the same rate. Apparently, TCR rates are for guidance only and subject to individual metered usage; however, in this case the TCR metered usage was the same for me and my neighbour!
Either EON are misquoting TCR rate, are not advising customers that a cheaper tariff is available or are overcharging based upon their poor customer service.

That’s quite a rant. You elected to go to arbitration. The EO looked at the facts and came to a judgement that you appear to have accepted. The £36 award would have been an EO decision. The small amount offered suggests to me that part of the problem may be down to the developer not providing E.oN with the relevant meter details for registration. As far as tariffs go, these are changed on an almost continuous basis so it isn’t possible for anyone to give a valid opinion on the other detail in your post without looking at your bill and that of your neighbour. As you are unhappy with E.oN, then why are you still with them? They are not the cheapest supplier on the market. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Good morning simonamrt1 and welcome to the forums.
Thank you Hengus for your reply, to be honest there isn't a lot I can add to it really.
As you've been to the Ombudsman and appear to have accepted a final settlement, you can't now go back.
You can see all of the tariffs that we have on the website, or if you log in to your online account you can do a best deal for you quote and you'll see if there is anything better or cheaper.
You can also pop your usage in to a comparison site, this way you'll be able to see tariff across all suppliers.
Or you can speak to us and we can do a quote for E.ON tariffs for you.
I'm sorry I can't really add much more.
Thank you
