I switched to a B&W laser last year but kept my HP ink jet in case I wanted to print anything in colour. Turns out that I don't need to (I never used it for printing photos anyway), and the HP's sole use now is as a scanner.

I bought an HP6960 last year. I wasn't particularly looking for an office printer, but at the low end, the prices are similar to home printers.

It's an excellent machine - fast, has a full-size paper drawer and a document feeder for scanning and photocopying.

I'd definitely recommend HP Instant Ink. For light use, £1.99 per month seems like a no-brainer, although my printer has 4 cartridges, so even better VFM.

I got a canon mg7750 and works brilliantly. You can get cheap non-canon inks online and so far never had an issue.
