The simple fact is countries that possess weapons of mass destruction do not get attacked, .

A fission bomb (within the thermonuclear / hydrogen bomb) detonates and super heats (with X-rays) the polystyrene foam, which turns into plasma which compresses a secondary plutonium "sparkplug" which then also starts to fission. Lithium-6 deuteride fuel then compresses and heats up creating tritium and then starts a fusion reaction.

That's the good old Teller Ulam design, I suspect the NK's don't have those and they've created a boosted fission device. That is they placed tritium/deuterium inside the core of a plutonium implosion device - that'd give around the quoted 100kt yield
  • This adage that Trump is some kind of bumbling hot head idiot.
You dont get to be a multi billionaire and from 5000-1 outsider to be president if you are stupid.
Compare this to those calling him, skint, in debt, failures with dead end jobs.

What he is, is a winner, an Aplha male on a dog eat dog life and by that respect, he will be perfect for dealing with this crackpot .

Thought it was pointed out during the campaign that had he simply invested the millions he inherited from Daddy into a DJIA tracker and did nothing, he'd be richer than he now claims to be

I obviously don't read the same magazines!

The Vela Incident suggests they do have nukes.

    Very interesting.

Although not sure what the typical yield is.

    A slightly different design: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boosted_fission_weapon#Some_early_non-staged_thermonuclear_weapon_designs
suggests < 1Mt yield, with 400Kt used as an example.

I don't recall anyone calling him stupid or an idiot but it seems obvious to many of us that qualities that may lead to success in (certain types of) business (arrogance, ego, selfishness, brashness, bloody-mindedness, hubris, volatility, etc) aren't necessarily advantageous in the tinderbox world of international diplomacy, and hence the desire expressed earlier for cooler heads....

You do if you inherited a multi-multi-billionaire fortune (in today's money) from Daddy and are now only a mere multi-billionaire. And when was the last time the Americans elected a Mensa member as President?
