Initial energy bill
Options
Hi, we recently moved into a new flat on the 30th of the month and having set up the energy bills for £66 a month to be taken on the 1st of the Month (so bill for September to come on the 1st of October right?) we've also been sent an initial bill of £66, am I right in assuming you pay for your monthly usage at the end of the month and therefore a bill of £66 for effectively two days use (when no heating or electricity should have been used anyway) is incorrect?

No - many of the new suppliers take the monthly sum in advance.
Who is your supplier?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
EDF, if thats the case, nothing untoward to do with it0

EDF just calculate your annual usage, divide it by 12 and that it your direct debit figure, which will be taken on the agreed date, so it has nothing to do with paying in advance/in arrears.
However, if you set up the DD for the 1st on 30th more than likely there will be a payment for September, probably taken around 18th September as it takes 14 working days to set the DD up with the bank. Then there will be another payment on 1st October and the 1st of each month thereafter.Make £10 per day-
June: £100/£3000 -
A billing date of the 1st of the month is not a good idea with EDF
Each bill lists how many D/Debit payments and their value were made over the stated billing period,, but the actual dates the D/D's were paid is not listed,so as you have found it's difficult to work out which month any particular D/D applies to.
I've just made the change on my daughters EDF account, for the D/D date to moved from the 1st of the month to the 15th.
This way come Easter, Xmas or system breakdowns her D/D will always be the in the correct month0
