Change standard hanging light to recessed lighting

Hi,
I have a standard hanging lightbulb within my bedroom wardrobe that works in parallel with the main bedroom light.
It's not ideal having it hang down in a fairly small walk in wardrobe, so I'd like to change the light fitting to a recessed light, ideally also seperating it from the main bedroom light so it can controlled independently.
It is legal to do this myself, if so, how difficult would this be (I have pretty much zero experience with this sort of thing), or if it does need to be an electrician, what would a fair sort of price be?
Cheers

I get what you're saying but it depends on what type of job it is doesn't it? If it's following some instructions and nothing too advanced with regards to the electrics, then I'm sure I could manage. What is generally involved?0

Changing the light fitting to a recessed one is pretty straight forward, rewiring it to work independently is where it gets complicated if you don't know what you're doing.0
