Some n00b questions about replacing kitchen sink...

So I want to replace our old stainless steel kitchen sink and tap with something nice and modern with one of those aerator taps...

When it comes to choosing a new sink, what size would I go for? I mean, I have no idea what bits of the sink I’d measure...

Just don’t know where to start basically!

Any advice appreciated! :money:

  • Do you want a one a half bowl sink? Usually around 800-1000mm in length.
For me, the most important thing was the guage of steel used. The thicker the better IMHO. I hunted around and finally found a Caple sink on eBay (came boxed as John Lewis but over a £100 less than catalogue price when I investigated further!). Solid and sturdy.
After that the finish and design I guess...
Google was my friend. Avoided the major retailers and hunted around.

Not 100% sure what you mean. It’s currently a bowl and a draining board combined, I’d love a 2 bowl sink if poss but not a deal breaker 😇

So should I measure around the outside of the sink? I assume it has some kind of lip overlapping the actual hole it sits in...?

You are, presumably, replacing the work surface it sits in?

Well I was hoping not to have to as that’s pretty much the whole work surface of our kitchen!
