Hello folks,
My Samsung phone keep saying 'the memory is almost full, delete unused files''
In view of this, i bought a micro sd phone memory. I went to phone settings to check if the external memory was recognised. It does but my phone is still asking me to delete files like before. What can i do to rectify this?
Cheers

Move your photos, music, video files into similarly named folders on the SD card (creating the folders if necessary). The phone should recognize them in there.
You can do this with a file manager app on the phone, or connect the phone to a computer and move files that way.
If that still doesn't leave you enough space in the internal storage, then go into apps settings and move some of the apps data onto the SD card.
Some will give you the option to move some won't.
Can't give detailed instructions as I don't have a Samsung phone.0 -
You may have to format the SD card from Android as internal storage space, this will obviously lose anything that's already on it, but bear in mind this will tie that SD card to that phone for the rest of its life and won't be usable in any other device.0

Thanks.
I created a new folder. I moved 3 videos there. Go back to delete those files from the original position, only to check the new destination and they are all gone.0 -
Android's storage system is a bit weird. Apps are stored on a partition that is quite limited in size, and you can easily run out of space by installing "too many" apps.
As above, the first thing to do would be to make sure you aren't running out of space due to too many personal files (photos, videos, music, anything you've copied from your PC, etc.). You can move these files to your SD card to free up some space.
If you still have problems, then you've probably run out of space on the app partition. Some apps can be moved, but many can't -- even useless apps that have been pre-installed.
There's no easy way round this, but if you're feeling brave, you could root your phone and install Apps2SD, which allows you to move any app to a partition on the SD card, or uninstall it completely.
It's easy to use, but not very intuitive to set up. But it works brilliantly once you've set it up correctly.
(Hmm... It looks like Apps2SD is now called App2SD, but anyway...)

You could delete useless log files for a start ..
type *#9900# into your dialler and from the resulting menu, choose :
"Delete dumpstate/logcat"0 -

Oooh -- I hadn't come across that code before. It doesn't seem to work on my Samsung Galaxy S2, though. I get the message, "Connection problem or invalid MMI code."0 -
OP, you might be able to clear up old temporary files by running CCleaner:

That's strange - I also have a galaxy s2 and it works on mine.
Yours is rooted though isnt it ? Not sure if that makes a difference ..0
