Money on a cleaning product or air freshener.

My gf starts coughing (and sometimes sneezing) as soon as she enters our bathroom, she has mild asthma (not needed her inhaler for over a year though), her symptoms are almost like hayfever when she goes in there, and start within a minute of going in there. Our house is very clean, theres no mould or anything, and it doesnt effect me...

    Any suggestions please?

Perhaps she is allergic to 'mould spores' - so small that you wouldn't see them even if magnified 40 times - and bathrooms are a haven for them.
  • Is there a lock on the door?
  • Perhaps she's trying to drop a hint to you to stop eavesdropping whenever she goes to the bathroom? ;)

I would second the idea of cleaning products being the culprit. I seem to have a sensitivity to a certain brand of descaler spray, which we use fortnightly to clean the bath. It smells really strong to me and makes me sneeze. My wife can hardly smell it at all.

The same with hairspray. My wife doesn't use it often but when she does I have to get well out of the way. I don't suffer from hay fever.
  • Do you have something similar to this in your toilet:

They do say that when you flush a loo, a fine mist of droplets can go for many feet if the lid isn't down so if you have such a cleaner as the one above, airborne chemicals from this could be the cause.

    Thanks all
Thinking about it, she does use Toilet Duck every day (shes a cleaning freak), so everytime I go in there the whole bowl is a blue colour, so ive said to not use it for a week or 2 and see how she gets on

Thanks everyone, hopefully its that :)
