Hey guys, newbie to this site so please bear with me.
I have received a letter from northampton county court business centre. I dont know how to upload a pic so il give you a brief of what's on there.
It's starts of with Judgement for claimant (in default)
To the defendant
You have not replied to the claim form, you must now pay the claimant £229.39 etc etc
Dated 31-august-2017
In the small print it says if I pay in full within one month, i can ask the court to cancel the entry on the register. I will need to give proof of payment.
I'm basically looking for some reassurance guys cause this is a scare to me after working so hard to build up my credit file. If I was to call up seven Trent (who the debt is to) in the week and pay off the debt in full. Am I guaranteed to not have this on my credit file? If so, what is the process i need to go through to make this happen. Sorry if this has been asked 100 times its just really playing on my mind.
Cheers

Come on, its a country court judgement, not a death warrant !!
Obviously the court papers must of gone to a previous address, and you didn't receive them.
You can pay this judgement, in full, within 28 days, and the CCJ will not appear on your credit file, i am assured it all happens automatically.
Follow the instructions for payment in the letter.
If for any reason it did show, you could get it removed by making a complaint.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I know, but if tried so hard lately to improve so i can be in a position to mortgage a house. Just don't want a !!!! up at the last hurdle. So you believe if you pay the debt it all happens automatically not appearing on your credit file?
Thanks for your advice it makes the day a bit easier0 -
Hi,
First things first, don't panic. You have 28 days to make the payment to the creditor.I have received a letter from northampton county court business centre. I dont know how to upload a pic so il give you a brief of what's on there.
It's okay, Northampton is a "bulk clearing court" that most large companies and debt collectors use. Many members of this forum have had one.In the small print it says if I pay in full within one month, i can ask the court to cancel the entry on the register. I will need to give proof of payment.
That's unlikely, the CCJ relies on the creditor going through with it. So if you pay the creditor a few days before it's due, they won't follow up and you won't get a CCJ.I'm basically looking for some reassurance guys cause this is a scare to me after working so hard to build up my credit file. If I was to call up seven Trent (who the debt is to) in the week and pay off the debt in full. Am I guaranteed to not have this on my credit file?
You just need to make payment, Severn Trent will take care of the rest. Make sure you ask for a receipt.0 -
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my opening post. I get paid on Friday so I'm going to make sure i pay it off in full then. I'm going to contact the court and seven Trent tomorrow so il update with what process i have made.
Thank you yet again0 -
Hi dane1986
Just to confirm the advice above for you, a CCJ will be removed from the Register of Orders, Judgments and Fines as long as you pay the full balance within one month of the CCJ being made. You will find a step by step guide on Register's website here https://www.trustonline.org.uk/understand-judgments-fines/ccjs-and-county-courts/county-court-judgment-records-how-long-ccjs-stay-on-record. This also means the CCJ will not be recorded on your credit file. You usually need to contact the court with proof of payment so the records can be updated. Hope this helps.

They already have the CCJ - the letter was a notice of judgement for the claimant.0 -

Thank you for the response. I tried phoning the court but had no answer. After a quick google search i see a lot of people have had issues contacting the court. Anyhow, i spoke to seven Trent and they said as long as i pay within 28 days (i have agreed to pay them on fri 8th) then they will send all relevant information of to the court to get it all removed. But i am also going to get proof of payment and still contact the court myself just in case.0
