Public Liability Insurance for (one-off) Indoor and Outside Event

I know nothing about Public Liability Insurance as I have never sold to the public.:o
I’m thinking about going to an indoor table-top craft fair sale (with a fellow crafter) and selling some glass jewelry and decoration items, we have both made.
I’m also thinking about selling (by myself) some old domestic items at an outdoor car boot sale.
I presume I need separate Public Liability Insurance to sell at such events?
Do I need two lots of Public Liability Insurance (one for each type of event and/or items being sold)?
Do I need to register as a business to sell at such events?
Is it best to pay Public Liability Insurance for each event or per month or year?
Does anyone know what the cost of Public Liability Insurance might be and if there are any specialists for such one-off events as I'm planing?

If you are selling your own household items at a car boot sale you will not need Public Liability Insurance. Nor will you have to register as a business to sell such items.
What you will need if you are selling items you have made is Product Liability Insurance rather than Public Liability Insurance. Usually the organiser of the fair will have Public Liability Insurance, or there may be a general policy for the venue.
You should inform HMRC of your self employed status as any profit you make from items you have made to sell or items you have bought in to sell on is taxable. How much tax or if you pay any tax will depend on your total annual income. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Thank you I never heard of Product liability Insurance before and didn't know Products liability insurance provides cover for compensation claims costs and expenses, for injury, or loss or damage to other people’s property, arising out of, or in connection with, any product or completed work for which I am responsible.
I guess I need to re-vist my costings and pricing to add in some form of Products liability insurance and a guarantee.0 -
There are a couple of market traders associations, both offer the cheapest Public Liability for someone in your position.0

We sell our crafts at a stall in a big Christmas fair spread across several venues in a large town. We have a stall inside (in theatre area). It is organised by the town council. We are required to have both public and product liability. We used to sell outside at a local street market organised by our local council (not same place as Christmas fair) and there we were required to have a Market Traders licence . You cannot rely upon organiser's public liability insurance covering you- you need to check with them first you are covered. Also if you plan on having lighting on your stall it will need PAT testing.0

Are you sure that's correct that you don't need liability insurance if you're selling your own household goods at a car boot sale?? What about selling used stuff at a bring and buy sale?0
