Building and Contents - Declaring a minor claim

Hi All,
I'm looking to move my Buildings and Contents home insurance from Hastings to Policy expert as its cheaper and Top Cash Back have a good deal on at the moment too.
When filling in all of the relevant details, of course, it asks if I've made any claims within the last 5 years...
In June this year, when returning home from a short trip, we checked one of our toilets as we heard water running. It was an issue with the cistern as water was constantly filtering through to the toilet itself. No damage was caused, it was just a case of calling hastings and getting a plumber out to replace the part.
I'd usually class this as a minor issue, as it did take over a month for the part to get replaced due to the part being out of stock.
The water was cut off from this toilet so it wasn't running for over a month by the way...
Should I declare this with policy expert as when I've declared it online, the quote hikes up £300 more!
Cheers
Andy

You must disclose all claims
However minor!0 -
Maybe If I email them the claim details, they may decrease the quote?0

You really should consider not using your home insurance for such a small claim in future! It will impact your premiums for 3/5 years, depending on how long a history you get asked about!
See what the rest of the market thinks of this in your history before you pay up to PE0 -
Thank you, I didnt realize this, It may be a case of just staying with Hastings.0
