Wall-mounted TV

I'm thinking of buying a television and hanging it up. I'd like to conceal the cables for a neat job. It's a late 70s property; 1 inch thick drywall hard up against the breezeblock party wall. I don't think it's dot'n'dab as I've taken the socket faceplates off for a look and there is no gap whatsoever. I'm thinking of chasing out the drywall, sticking in some 20mm conduit and plastering over it. Would this be the best approach? I'm not concerned about regulations as it's a rented flat and I'll make good if and when I move out.

Some D-Line trunking will look neat and will be a bazilion times easier to install than chasing out the plaster0

I would chase and conduit, I don't think trucking looks particularly nice.0

Agree with Grenage. Conduit always looks like a bodge. Plasterboard will be easy to chase through but don't think it will be deep enough to put conduit in. You'll need to chase out the block work behind it.0

I've had another look and realised that it's plaster, not plasterboard. Fun and games!0

Just make sure you have enough room to put the power cable and all the HDMI cables the TV can handle. Also, if you are considering getting a soundbar or something, get it before you start so you can hide those cables too.0

Also keep in mind that the best viewing angle to watch television is with the set at the same height as your eyes. Having it on a wall usually means it's raised up and it's very uncomfortable on your neck to view it at that angle.0

My TV is on the wall and its at a perfect height.0

Thanks for the replies. I hate it when TVs are mounted too high, above fireplaces etc. Mine will be nice and low!0

It looks like a high cistern toilet!0

Then why not save yourself the bother and just put it on a tall enough stand?0
