Phone up and ask. If you've been with BG at a previous house and paid credit they should be able to do it straght away.
If not, or it's been a while, they'll ask to credit check you or ask for a security deposit.
They should be able to book the job on a week's notice.
Get on DD or an online plan for the cheapest deal.
  • Hi -

We had £2.80 on our gas meter, so I went and put £10 on the card and transferred it to the meter. However, the meter now seems to think there is £39 on there! Should I be worried about this? Should I call British Gas?

The account card is ours and I have used it before with no problems. The only thing I did different this time is that I forgot to turn the boiler off. It’s a back-boiler and wasn’t actually on (as in burning away!) but the pilot light was on. Would this have made a difference?

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Cheers.

when i moved into a property i was there for about 6 months and in about the 6th month i went to put a £5 on the gas when i got back it said £25.00 i thought it was a mistake and it ended up beeing £20 free cause they had missed a appointment (have they missed any cause for missed appointment they put £20 free on your card (maybe more now as that was 2 years ago)i hope this is some help
my debt free date is finally March 2009

The the GSOS payments should still be £20 but if you fancy looking, the documentation is on the Ofgem site in the online docs section. Just search for standards of service or overall performance and you should find it.

I've recently posted the links to the leccy ones on here but they should be similiar.

As Lucy has shown, they will tend to add them to the meter with PP because it can't benefit you on your customer account unless they send you a cheque.

As far as changing goes, it will just be a quick credit check. Make sure they are aware that you have a previous account with them to check and it should be no problem if you maintained that. Any credit left on your PP meter will still be on your account so it will get used up against your first credit bill.

PP are always more expensive anyway so you can get a cheaper rate if you change.
