Electrical Test on house I'm buying

No. How could it, unless there was an obvious bump where the cable had been plastered over. As you didn't notice it for 10 years I suspect it was not noticable.
Which goes to prove an electrical inspection will not pick up all non compliant wiring.
We thought it unusual that when the builders had done some work on the subject wall, the outside light ceased working. As the work was not on the horizontal or vertical line of the presumed route of the wiring, we assumed it was just coincidence. It was only when the wall was chased for new wiring into the extension, we found the diagonal wiring. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Get the electrical test done, we were so glad we did on our house when we bought it as a major problem was found with the kitchen electrics and the garage electrics, both were accidents waiting to happen has we not got them checked.0

Any DIYer should in any case use an LED cable/pipe detector before drilling holes.
You can easily detect wiring in the plaster but also where the supporting wood is under plasterboard walls, by the evenly spaced buried nail studs.
These gadgets are cheap as chips in DIY stores.0 -

Hehe years ago in my younger days, I carefully marked out the position of the cables with two parrellel lines for each one. Then I had a coffee break.
I got distracted for whatever reason, then drill in hand, without thinking I drilled right in the middle of the parallel lines
A nice bang followed, then a couple of hours of extra workThe way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.
Who will we blame then?0
