no car tax/no logbook

Also in future you should use the online service to change address / change keepers etc. It much more efficient and you get an email confirmation that it has been changed.
You should also set a reminder for 4 weeks after to check you have received the log book so you can chase it up if you don't.
Also I have a 12 month Direct Debit setup for my Vehicle Tax and I get an email each year to remind me it's being taken out, so even if I didn't do anything it would automatically renew.
So you should see if you can set it up to automatically renew (But I've never tried it on a car with a zero rate of tax)
How can you change address online? I rang dvla to change my address, I could do my license but for my car I had to send my logbook in with the new address on it. I received the new logbook 4 days later. Seems bizarre it's taken 2 weeks for hers and when she ran on Friday it hadn't been processed yet cause of 'high volume of work'
It seems suspicious that £160 of the £260 fine is refundable if she proves the car is taxed within 15 days, but even though the dvla said it would be a maximum of 14 days this had now passed and they haven't even looked at her application....0 -

I didn't realise that!. It really is something that you should be able to do online.0 -
So if Ford had put the correct name on, and it's a typing error at their end, I'm pretty sure that's a breach of data protection?
No it isn't a DPA issue, it's a mistake, probably by the dealer. DVLA don't manually type in registration data supplied from the dealerships anyway, it is an automated process.
The name error would presumably have been on the old V5 she originally had before sending it off ?0 -
Mmm.
You're selling your car. You give the doc ref to somebody to check out the HPI. They don't buy...
But they do change the V5C address online...
But they could still change the registered keeper online....
Neither of which would benefit them much and could only be used as a way to cause hassle for the person.0 -
When I purchased my current car the dealer spelt my name wrong, coincidently missing out an l, although correct on the invoice. When I received the V5 I noticed immediately and sent it back to DVLA getting a corrected one about 2 weeks later. No dramas here.0
