    When my OH changed his car a couple of years ago the DVLA would not accept his original statement of entitlement as when it had previously been sent to them, somebody had handwritten the old car's registration number on it. So we had to pay full amount and then get a new statement of entitlement and do the whole claim again.

    What I can't understand is that they have full access to all information about who owns what car by just putting in the registration number, so they could see that OH was the registered keeper and the old vehicle had been sold.

    It seems a totally crazy way of having to go about claiming the 50%, surely there could be a simpler way?[/QUOTEoI}

    Since reading your experience I thought maybe as I changed car this year then that's why an upto date statement of entitlement was required, though it couldn't be as I had car changed in 2014 and continued to use original statement until past few weeks.

    I agree why with all the data held, why is disability allowance not yet allowed online.

    I am quite confused by this thread. My PIP entitlement letter states when it is valid to as well as when it started. Why does the DVLA need an update to date letter as they can clearly see from the original how long the award has to run?

    The DVLA argument was that the original statement of entitlement related to a different car as the registration number had been written on it (by them), which is totally ridiculous as I would have thought it related to whatever car that was owned by my OH at that time of applying.

    As I said previously, they have access to all vehicle information, so could see that the new car was indeed registered to my OH and the old car was no longer registered to him.

    That year I had to send documents via Special Delivery a couple of times costing over £13:(
