  • Yeah this always happens. It stops on the 31st August then reboots for September.

I normally get paid on a Thursday which was 31 August this year. So I got nothing, it will be there again on Thursday I expect, however I don't expect back pay, I am sure I didn't get it last time with my older daughter.
no longer miserable in debt.... :T but dont know how to change my id!!
  • We are in the same boat as told CTC college and course details and was told that the system will update on Sept which it did but just checked my online tax account and still saying no payments due.

so will now not get anything next week and no doubt week after as well and we rely on the payments.

seems a bad way of doing it but what do we expect with tax credits.

how long should it be till payments start again?

We've been told we should get some level of bursary assistance, but, and this is my own fault, I can't find my last tax credits paperwork to prove income, so we can't access it until I find it.
Do you work? If so, wouldn't proving your p60 suffice? I didn't think they usually wanted household income plus took a TC award into account, but I'm not completely sure?

Admin fees?? That's something I've not heard of before. My son is about to go into his 2nd year at an FE college, studying IT. Our costs were travel card to get reduced travel.

Rich - I was told by the call centre op that they try to do it in 2 weeks, but the online account said 4, so that's what I'm working on just in case.

Spendless - I'm disabled and unable to work, so the CTC award is what they need in our case.

  • I'm not sure if mine are actually sorted but I signed into my HMRC account today and it's listing payments due over the next 8 weeks. These weren't there a few days ago while they were working out the changes to my claim.

The new payments are £46 less a week for CTC. Does this sound correct? Or does that mean my 16yr old has been taken off my claim? He is staying on at school studying Scottish Highers this year and will be staying on next year too for 6th year.

Have you told them he's staying on in full time non advanced education?
  • looks like they are now fully updated as my new payments are now showing with a extra payment due on Thursday then normal payments on a Tuesday.
  • When my DD was 18 I informed them she was leaving 6th form and going to uni. Payments reduced by appropriate amount, all good. Then I get a letter and I'm still getting payment for daughter but they have stopped payment for her younger brother. Phoned them and said they needed to swap the names. Oh no they wanted me to repay the "overpayment" and were stopping her payment and would look into payment for son. Had nearly an hour arguing on the phone being told that I didn't know if the figures would match, how would they not? Eventually after transferring to manager it was agreed the figures were right but the names had been switched, no problem they assured me, what was I worried about? I have never spoken to such difficult people who wouldn't listen to reason.

Scotland lass - if your payments dropped, then it's quite possible you've got the same thing happening as I found on Friday - at that point all the future payments were showing reduced.

Rich - I wouldn't have thought to check this soon without your comment - looks like mine's been updated too, so big panic over (little panic still there - got to borrow the college money from my dad, but at least we can still eat now).
