Off Credit File.......but can it return?

Back in 2004 I had a loan from Welcome Financial Services - it no longer on my Credit File, but still has approx £2.5k o/s. I have just received a letter from a company called PRA Group stating that they have 'purchased' the o/s balance, with a view to possible litigation.

I know that someone will know the answer - can this return to my credit file as a 'new' debt under PRA Group? Needless to say, unfortunately I don't have the money to clear the debt.

So it can't 'reappear' on my file as a new debt?
  • One question... How long ago did you last make a payment??

  • OK so not statute barred then. If the default is over 6 years old, it should drop from the credit file for good. However with it not being statute barred, you should keep paying as the creditor can obtain a CCJ.
