... according to a recent survey for the BBC anyway

I was surprised, as I thought most people disliked their jobs. I never really liked most of mine much, but seems I was in the minority.

I think you need to try being unemployed for a period of time before moaning about your job or employment generally too much.
As well as money, work provides social interaction and a sense of identity - how many times to you ask (or someone asks you) "what do you do?". And how many women don't want to be simply known as a 'housewife' or 'stay at home mum'? How many people who have been made redundant, especially those in their 50's, feel like they've lost their sense of self-worth as a result?
That's the context you need to think about the story in, not just because you're sick of what you feel is a bit of a cr*ppy job...0 -
I always smile when I read that a lottery winner will be going into work as usual because they love their job.....My mob would just get a text from Hawaii :rotfl:0

I doubt I would continue to do my job were I to win the lottery, but I do enjoy it (well most of the time at least). As ReadingTim said, it provides enjoyment in many ways.
Most people spend 1/3 of their day at work. That's a big part of your life. If you really hate your job, you should put some effort into finding another one.0 -
Well, that's what we call a representative survey then! -just a bit of 'too good to be true'!More than 1,100 British adults were surveyed0 -

Define enjoy.
I'd imagine like 99.9% of the working population I go to work in order to earn money. If I was to win a large sum on the lottery I'd quit the next day. This isn't really a sign of something I enjoy.
However I'd rather work than not work in my current situation and as far as jobs go, it's not bad. I don't hate it anyway, it's just a necessary part of life. I have elements I enjoy and others I don't.0 -

1000 respondents for a straightforward yes/no question should give a reasonable statistical accuracy, so long as they have selected a representative sample (not, for example, just from people who work at the centre for chocolate and whisky tasting, whic might skew the results).0 -

Yes it was my own opinion. Nothing wrong with expressing it, I trust?0 -
Anyway ...
Just as a point of discussion, were you also surprised how happy most seem in their jobs, or are you among the two-thirds who are quite content?
I do think life must be a lot easier if you're happy in work, since we have to spend so much time doing it.0
