I think you're underestimating how soon April 2018 is in wedding terms. It's pretty unusual to be still looking for a venue with only 7 months to go, so I wouldn't be surprised if the venue has to offer discounts to fill the date. Keep an eye on their websites.

If they do have to offer discounts or can't fill it, then you might struggle to get all back, as it is a loss on their part. Barryblues success offers you hope, but he was giving all his suppliers a extra year effectively to rebook.

    No you are not.

The venue should also use its best efforts to mitigate any losses.

In Unholyangels post look for the term "loss of profit", this will eat up most if not all the £1100, so you can just ignore Barryblue's jibberish.

The key point you need to look out for is if they have resold the venue on the day of question, this would entitle you to most of the deposit back.
I'm afraid it's you that is talking gibberish. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Loss of profit is specifically not an issue in this matter, nor is re-letting the venue.

However, I shall not comment further as there is little point when the barrack room lawyers clearly think they know best. I just hope the OP takes the trouble to research the issues properly.:p

I agree that re-letting the venue is not an issue, but if it can be shown that the venue was indeed re-let, then that is a good indication that the losses will be significantly less that might otherwise be the case.

And if the venue is re-let then loss of profit becomes irrelevant as the seller will be profiting from the re-let. :)

Surely that's only the case if they have re-let at the same or greater cost than the original booking?
