Mistake in my wages

The tax will sort itself out eventually.
It's only getting your NI back that can be more of a pain if it puts you over the threshold. Same with if you get automatically enrolled into the workplace pension and they don't postpone you due to a payspike. If your earnings would usually remain below that threshold and you never intended to join or opt in, you'll have to go through sorting that out too. Unless of course your not eligible due to age.
Really they should have just corrected their error and footed the cost for a Faster Payment.0 -
I have said it before and will say it again.
If it had been me doing the payroll, then if the payment had already gone into the bank account before the error was noted, then I would have done an estimated adjustment and made a faster payment into the employee's account.
Of course, it can be a different matter when the employer is a mean so and so, or enjoys watching people suffer.
There is absolutely no reason why the employee should be made to stack up their credit card for something which is not their fault.0 -
Been to see my manager, he said he'll call payroll and see if they can do an advanced payment from the holiday bonus. He isn't sure if they will but we have to wait till Monday to see.0

I have just been paid and my wage is half what it should be. I enquired as to why and was told that my holiday pay had been inputted incorrectly and was instead put into the 'holiday bonus' instead which is paid every 3 months.
This has left us extremely short this month and the extra income will mean I will be charged more tax next month.
Payroll have said there is nothing I can do as the wages have already gone through for this month. I am wondering what if anything I can do now as we cannot survive this month on this low wage.
Just use this situation as a warning that your financial situation needs improving if a shortage of wages one month causes issues. Use this opportunity to get a budget together and start saving up an emergency fund.kingfisherblue wrote: »Some people don't have credit cards. I haven't had one for years.
The large majority of people in the UK would benefit from having a credit card.
Even if your not interested in making money from stoozing or cashback if you ever buy anything over £100 then it's worth it for section 75 protection alone. Plus if you ever buy anything which reserves funds on your card such as in hotels or ever buy anything and have to claim it back it's extremely useful.
So you and the OP should definetly get one.As for a credit card, not everyone has good enough credit to get one.
You should check your credit history at the three main Credit Reference agencies and check it's all correct and see what the issues are if you can't get a credit card.0 -

I was under no delusion that my financial situation was brilliant. The vast majority of people live pay cheque to pay cheque and it's not as easy to just say 'improve your financial situation'. If I had money to save then I wouldn't be in the situation where a muck up with my wages screws me over. I am in a crappy zero hours job in a crappy job market, and if I could snap my fingers and find a better job I would. You should check your credit history at the three main Credit Reference agencies and check it's all correct and see what the issues are if you can't get a credit card.
I know my credit history, I have wildly varying credit across all three and no matter how many times you tell then to correct the information the answers are always the same: 'it's the other companies fault for not sharing all info with us' or more likely 'there's nothing we can do about it'.0 -

Lots of people do live payday to payday but that's because they don't have a budget and just spend whatever money they have got.
Have you sat down completed an SOA and worked out exactly where you money is going each month and tried to see where you can save some money?. It's extremely unlikely you earn exactly what you need to live on each month. You will either be earning to little and building up debt each month or earning more than you need but just spending every penny because it's sitting on your bank.I know my credit history, I have wildly varying credit across all three and no matter how many times you tell then to correct the information the answers are always the same: 'it's the other companies fault for not sharing all info with us' or more likely 'there's nothing we can do about it'.
What are the actual mistakes on your credit files?
Lenders don't have to report to all of the threr main Credit Reference Agencies so if some credit providers are only on certain reports it's not an issue. You just need to make sure all the information is correct and that you don't miss any payments.0
