Mobile phone insurance for someone under 18

I took out a contract for my brother who is 16 with insurance but I'm wondering if it would be valid if anything actually happened.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm with three and I looked at the terms and conditions but they seem a bit vague.

What does Three's policy say? Usually they will cover immediate family purchases, however the way companies define immediate family may vary.

If it doesn't include brother / sister purchases, you should get all premiums back to date as the policy was never offering cover.

It mentions an authorised user which I presume is someone else you allow to use the phone but as he is under 18 so I'm not sure that would be allowed.

I've sent them an email so I'll see what they say.

It looks to offer a reasonable level of cover, actually, for a gadget policy (presuming you're on this set of terms and not an older / legacy set - http://www.three.co.uk/termspdf/three-rescue-tcs-071417.pdf)

Specifically, this term is in the policy -

"With Three Rescue™ Damage Cover or Full Cover you’re covered if you lend your device to
    friends and family."

I'd have thought a brother is covered within this whether he is the authorised user or not - looks like it should be fine.

I didn't even notice that bit, thanks! Will hopefully be fine then.
