Insurance via Price Comparison
I've just had a fairly messy phone call with a fairly large insurance company. For the time being I won't name them. They were coming up as cheapish via GoCompare, however, they were coming up significantly cheaper via CompareTheMarket.
I phoned them up to ask about the discrepancy, and initially they told me it was different margins etc.
However, part way through the call, the operator told me that the details that the comparison website passed on were 'technically wrong' and they were vague. They didn't provide my accurate date of passing my test and apparently, giving the month and year of an accident is not enough, they want the day as well and CompareTheMarket don't provide this.
After amending the details, the price flew up over £100. I said "what stops me going via CompareTheMarket, and he said for each discrepancy, there can be a £50 fine and then you pay the difference as well?
Truth be told I'm stunned. I've paid the full price including the £100 extra, but it hardly feels nice to pay that much when CompareTheMarket were saying a price cheaper.
Thoughts? Should I phone back and cancel and go via CompareTheMarket, have they lied to me over the phone?

Phoning 1st Central again to ask why there's a £66 increase. I might just cancel it and go ahead with the CTM one.0

Probably not the wisest thing to do. If you go back on CTM you will then link across to the 1stC site and pay. You will then get documents that detail the info that the policy is based on and will be confirming that these are 100% accurate. You now know that they are not so at some point you will just be back in the same position as you are now, which could be a load more hassle if the trigger for them to check your details was at the point of a claim. They would also then have another record for you on their system showing your cancelled policy with the correct details which would look very much like you had deliberately lied about your details - not a situation that you want to be in....All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -

But why is CTM sending the incorrect details then? Currently on the phone to them discussing it. They've said they can't understand why it's different.
How stupid is this?0 -
OK, so they actually said adjusted it should have be less, they've refused to refund it though. I agreed to the earlier price, so that's that. Absolute !!!!ers lol.
£100 difference in total. What a joke.
Suppose money is money and insurance will do anything to get it off you.0
