It may be a legit comp, it may also be Self Promotion which MSE does not allow.
Companies or people who work for them are not allowed to post their own competitions as MSE is not here as a free advertising site.
When a new member signs up just to post a competition which they seem very conversant with, they don't look at any other posts or show any other interest in the site, it does look rather suspicious.
