When playing internet video files and some others the playback goes green and red and looks like a negative
I've had this problem before, and someone recommended downloading codecs, which sorted out the problem.
I've just done a reinstallation of windows due to a faulty hard drive,
I've searched for and downloaded some codecs but I still can't seem to get this working.
Could someone advise please before this pc goes out of the window.

Did you install your chosen media player before you installed the codec pack? As if not, this maybe the reason for your problems. If so uninstall the codec pack, reinstall something like vlc https://www.videolan.org and use it to view your content. Alternatively, install http://headbands.com/gspot/ and let it identify the video codecs on your system then use the advice here: http://www.updatexp.com/windows-xp-codecs.html to assign the correct codecs to the applications you want them too.
This also maybe useful http://www.siggraph.org/education/materials/HyperGraph/video/codecs/Default.htm it's a list of codecs for different applications.
Alternatively, reinstall windows again but this time ensure you update microsoft media player, real player etc but this time don't install the codec pack.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
what codecs did you download? K-lite?
never mind, just saw your other thread0
