When can a company file a late payment

Hi, I have had a late payment filed on my credit report by Shop direct.
They have said that the bill was due on the 28th of July and I made payment on the 8th of August.
Is this late enough for them to file a report? I thought payment have to be around 30 days late before they could actually file that you have made a late payment but they could still charge their own late fees.
Am I wrong in thinking this and their addition is correct?
