Wet room or shower tray

Yes, we will do in future.
We rang the only decent fitter around but he said he couldn't even do a patch up until February. I asked if he could do it in the evening if we paid him extra but he said no.
What kind of leak are we talking about? I've seen it done before where water is leaking between the tray and tiles, and a wide (about 25mm) plastic trim has been used to cover the area and sealed with silicone. Looks horrible, but keeps the water in as a temporary fix until you get someone worth their salt to fit a new bathroom0 -

It's to the side of the door:

That could be patched in a few hours
It's caused by the installer not siliconing the tray and letting it cure before fitting the enclosure . There will be no silicone behind the vertical profile
This will have leaked from day oneHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -

Thanks, it was installed by Redrow who built the house.
We had someone come round who said that they would need to reseal the tray and replace the shower door but they still haven't sent us a quote so they probably don't want to do it.
Could you please tell me why the installation instructions of shower cubicle doors always say that you must only silicone the outside of the door frame and not inside where it touches the shower tray?0 -
What needs to be done when installing a shower tray as we have had 2 that leaked.0

The glass seals and frame trap water . You must only silicone the outside edges where it meets the tile and tray. This allows the trapped water to drain on the inside
We see this fault all the time, trays fitted , tiled and grouted then the enclosure goes in and silicone. No silicone behind the wall profile so any trapped water goes straight into the wallHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Solid base i.e. 25mm plywood floor
Bonded to floor with solid bed tile adhesive
Tank walls
Full bed wall tile adhesive, aiming for 80% cover , cement based adhesive pref
Quality grout from Mapei or Bal. Seal, all edges leaving 12-18hrs between grout and silicone
Fit enclosure and seal outside once tray silicone curedHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -

It's all a one fix bathroom for each trade. No one needing to go back is saved money. We only rip out ridiculously high enclosures like that in relatively new builds.
The shower tray legs will probably be stood on offcuts of skirting board - as they're not long enough to be level and as high as the developers wanted them.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
