Living in Germany but working for a UK based company

in Cutting tax
Hi all,
I will be moving to Germany with my family at the end of the year, my German partner will begin work there and I will keep the same position I had in England but work from home.
I wanted to ask about tax, national insurance and health insurance for both countries. I will be coming back to the UK office once a month for a week, I hope that to become once a week every two months. This isn’t a temporary move so it would be my preference to pay tax and the equivalent of national insurance into the German system so if things go wrong or I’m told it’s not working I will be eligible for help from Germany.
Can anyone give any information regarding my situation?
Thanks,
Jay

I'm not an expert, but:
1. You need to determine if you'll remain tax resident in the UK. If you do, you will still be liable to pay UK tax on your income. https://www.gov.uk/tax-foreign-income/residence
2. I suspect you will also be liable to pay tax on any income earned while working in Germany, even if your employer is not in Germany.
Under a double taxation treaty between the UK and Germany, you should be able to reclaim double tax relief so you're not paying tax twice, though I'm not sure which way round it works.
You would probably benefit from speaking to an expert on German tax matters.0 -

Yeah I would think so, if I'm using German services etc I'm sure to be getting taxed for them. I'll check out that .gov.uk link and try to contact someone from Germany's equivalent to HMRC0
