British Gas electricity projection
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else had a shock when receiving their electricity projection from British Gas.
I live in a 2 bedroom flat with 1 child and although I'm sure we could save a little on our electricity usage I spend around £300 per year on a pre payment meter. Today's letter, letting me know that they are scrapping the dual fuel discount and adding a bit so it goes to the cap set by Ofgem, has predicted my next years electricity to cost £1,552.14
It has to be a mistake, how do they mess up so awfully?

Hi agarr, the changes in pricing alone wouldn't account for such a difference and unless there's been a big change in your usage; it doesn't look like this is correct.
Please give our Pay As You Go Team a call on 03301000303 and we'll check this for you. Cheers, MattI am the official company representative of British Gas. I too have the same problem on my credit meter. It says instead of paying £26 pm, if I change tariff it will charge £226! I think, like mine there is a fault with a few accounts.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

I have spoken to one of the team at British Gas.
They were very helpful and checked what my actual usage should be and obviously it was closer to what I thought it should be rather than the projection. They've raised it with another department as the letter was clearly in error.
