I had a similar thing with Nationwide. They would only send the closing statement by post. However it was closed one day and 2 working days later the closing statement did arrive in the post, so I was able to send the copy to my solicitors.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
  • My partner never recieved her closing statement in post, she went into branch and they said they couldn't do a closing statement again as it wasn't an option.. Post only and they also couldn't send another one out in post.. All they could do was print out a statement of all the account activity etc and they signed and stamped the documents.. also posted out a letter explaining about them not being able to send more closing statements for the account as it was already closed (Idiots.). My solicitor said it SHOULD suffice and that they have got the bonus with just a statement before...

Hopefully exchange today so if I do I will ask my solicitor how the HTB bonus is going and try and remember to post back into this thread. xD

P.S. She is with Barlcays also..

Post or not post, you need a closing statement to be with your sols (original) before completion. That is my experience and I already organised that even though I am still waiting for exchange. At least I know I am ready and in unlikely event it falls through not huge of a loss as you can still use it for your next purchase.

Thanks all. We closed our accounts on Friday and hope to receive completion statements in the post this week, with completion set for next Monday. In the meantime we received account summaries, stamped and dated, which show 'account closed' and the amount of money withdrawn on closure. I sent scans to solicitor and he said that should be fine... but still hoping we get the postal statements by end of the week.
  • I'm glad you've managed to get it sorted. :)
