Late last night I happened to be passing my car (Jaguar XF 3.0 diesel. Twin exhausts - this is the important bit!!)
I noticed something odd about one of the exhausts - and realised that someone has stuffed an onion into it. An actual onion. And quite a big one at that.
I retrieved it, and checked both exhausts with a torch to make sure there were no other random veggies. I also had a quick look at the cars up and down the street in case there was a serial onioner on the loose.
But now I'm wondering - if I hadn't noticed, and had driven the car, what would have been the outcome. Would there have been any damage of any sort? Would it have been worse if I'd just had a single exhaust?

The exhaust tails might be separate, but they certainly won't be completely separate and isolated between each bank of the engine - they'll be joined to balance the gas flow. So blocking one tail will just halve the available maximum flow. And you won't be getting anywhere near that being an issue.0
