You could always get a more expensive one from Ikea. I've had one of theirs for about 12 years - it was £95 at the time. I tried out one in the shop a couple of weeks ago that I thought was excellent (looking to get one for my husband) and it was only £130 if I recall correctly. Whatever you go for, make you you can go and sit on it or easily return it before buying.0

Maybe not, but that's because not all employers care.
I've worked in many offices full of Herman Miller Aerons. They are an investment and will last 10-15 years easily (longer if looked after).
I picked my current chair up about 9 years ago from a business that had gone under and were selling their furniture off - my Aeron cost me £180.
As somebody else pointed out, people will pay hundreds of hundreds of pounds for a good mattress - you spend 8 hours a day lying on it. The same principle applies to an office chair if you use it all day.0 -

A massive range available on https://www.back2.co.uk/ergonomic-chairs/ergonomic-office-chairs (other suppliers are available).
You'll be looking at several hundred pounds at a minimum for a decent chair. I've been using a Herman Miller Aeron for the last ten years but it's getting a bit tired. I'm considering a Mirra 2 or Embody for my new office. You won't get much change for £1k.
As this is MSE, you may be able to get a good chair cheaper second hand.
Hmmmm... if you are used to an Aeron you may find Mirra a bit of a poor man's Aeron. It's certainly not a bad chair, but it's not the most iconic office chair of the last twenty years either.
Given that both can be picked up for a reasonable price second hand, I think I'd stump up the extra fifty to hundred quid and get another Aeron.
As for Embody, well, they are a bit weird looking for my taste. Mirra and Aeron are both much nicer. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I got my Aeron of t'Bay years ago and use if pretty much every day, so comfy. If you look about, should get one for £200 and there's loads at £300.
I'd look for a Mirra on t'Bay at thr £150 mark.0
