Hi, sorry if this has already done the rounds but I have absolutely no idea who my original mortgage provider, from around 1989 was as my then husband (now divorced) sorted it out. I do know that at some point it was sold onto another company that I think was called the Household Mortgage company by again no idea who they are now. How on earth do I find out as I have no paperwork at all?

If you dont know the lender then how do you know it was missold?
Remember that most MPPI was not missold. And most mortgages were put in place using a broker/adviser. So, the lender doesnt matter as you dont complain to them in those cases. And you cant complain to the broker as its 16 years before regulation started.
Can you remember who the PPI was with? (MPPi being standalone and not built into the mortgage - which is how PPI should be means you would have a separate direct debit.
Also, MPPI was not that common in 1989. However, where it was put in place, it was typically the primary worker that was covered and not second borrower. So, in a divorce case, that means the primary owner gets to the keep any redress from a complaint. Only if cover was split between the two earners would there by any potential redress on a successful complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
